Former MSB Leader Pape-Philippe Amagou Transforms into Corporate Trainer

When we meet him, we see that the former leader of the MSB has not changed, except perhaps in his clothing. As part of his professional reconversion, Pape-Philippe Amagou (39 years old) swapped shorts, jersey and sneakers for shirt, pants and jacket.

Exit training and matches, now time for training, advice and meeting rooms. The result of a partnership signed at the end of 2023 between the Le Mans basketball club and its partner GERESO, a specialist in human resources and management training, the idea arose to offer innovative training to Sarthois managers, drawing on the principles of high-level sport. level and team coaching.

It was therefore quite natural that we turned to the former captain of the “tangos” to lead this first training, which took place on March 26 at the MSB headquarters. Seven managers participated in this great first, to strengthen their leadership and team management skills.

The managers of tomorrow

Just like the role he had on the field, Pape is as comfortable giving advice as he was handing out caviar to his teammates.“With GERESO, a partner of the MSB, and the MSB, we had an ambition to provide training for the club’s sponsors, training on management. The MSB thought that I would be the right person, as a former player, to be able to deliver this training. It is one of my activities, one of my hats of activities that I have, to do training in leadership, in management, in business coaching. With GERESO and in collaboration with the MSB, we worked on three training modules, drawing an analogy with basketball. All these modules are complementary to each other »explains the dynamic trainer.

Listening to him, we understand that the world of work and basketball are not that far apart. “There is always a parallel in fact with basketball. When you are a professional player, you must be able to provide support and reassurance. The captain has a leadership side. You must set an example, lead, energize, and demonstrate authority. »

A wise commentator

During his playing career, the native of Maisons-Laffitte prepared for his future. Now recognized as a consultant, the former basketball player alternates between his roles as trainer, strategy advisor and mental coach. “During my career, I did double projects. I had started to have this ambition to get out of the sport ecosystem. So I went to business school. After my career, I definitely had more time to do it. But I didn’t wait until the end to do it. » By no means satisfied, the four-time French champion has also become a fine consultant for France TV and Skweek TV. “I wear an entrepreneurial hat and I comment on the basketball championship. »
