Setback in the relegation battle
Points deducted – Nottingham is penalized
A bitter setback for Nottingham Forest: ex-Nati player Remo Freuler’s team has four points deducted in the middle of the relegation battle.

Nottingham (here striker Chris Wood) will be deducted four points.
Everton have already hit it, now Nottingham Forest has to believe in it. The Premier League club has four points deducted for financial misconduct. That’s what “The Athletic” wrote on Monday afternoon.
The reason: Nottingham has taken on too much debt in the last three years. A rule in the Premier League states that a club can only have a loss of up to £105 million once in a three-year period. Nottingham has exceeded this limit by around £23 million.
Money owed to players
Since promotion in 2022, the traditional club has spent over 250 million pounds and not even earned 100 million. Since then, the English have signed 42 players and spent around £250 million. In the summer of 2023, “The Athletic” revealed in a report that Forest still owes money to both its players and various advisors. Shortly afterwards, the club sold some players, including Nati player Remo Freuler (Bologna), and the Premier League initiated proceedings.
Doubly bitter: With the point deduction, Nottingham slips into a direct relegation zone. After all, there is a chance of appealing the decision within two weeks. The league’s ruling has not yet become legally binding. (par)
