180 hotels reopen in Acapulco after Hurricane Otis – El Sol de México

Evelyn Salgado Pineda, governor of Guerrero, reported that 68 percent of the hotel supply reopened and highlighted that it was a priority project in the state because the main economic activity is tourism.

“In this sense, we work hand in hand in this sector and with the three levels of government to promote an important recovery that has allowed us to date to reopen 180 hotels, a figure that is increasing day by day.”

The governor of Guerrero highlighted the reestablishment of 23 highway points that were affected by Hurricane Otis with the work of 110 people and 126 machines to free traffic. In addition, the reconstruction of the Acapulco Airport is 85 percent complete and it would be in May of this year when it will begin with international flights.

“This important recovery of the sector was possible largely thanks to the work to reestablish communications and road infrastructure so that in 11 days it was reestablished in 23 highway points.”

Ariadna Montiel, Secretary of Welfare, highlighted the economic support for the reconstruction of 301,076 homes affected by Otis and 30,196 commercial premises with an investment of 15,275 million pesos destined for families in Acapulco.

The schools affected by Hurricane Otis have also already been rehabilitated, 928 schools receive support from the Federal Government with 314 million pesos so that young people and adolescents return to classes in the best conditions.

The Secretary of Welfare assured that the electricity supply was fully restored thanks to the important work of the Federal Electricity Commission and with an investment of 145.6 million pesos.
