Badminton enthusiasts from all over the country gather in Donghae City, Gangwon-do to compete against each other.
According to Donghae City on the 8th, the ’14th Donghae Mureung Cup Open Badminton Competition’ will be held from the 9th to the 10th. The competition is hosted by the Gangwon-do Badminton Association and the Donghae City Badminton Association and will be held at Donghae Gymnasium, National Sports Center, and Yeram Middle School Gymnasium.
About 1,800 people from 900 teams comprised of hobbyists from 17 cities and provinces across the country will participate. Competitions are conducted by sport, age, and grade. Events are divided into men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. Age is divided into 20s (including below), 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s or older. Grades are divided into 5 levels from A to E depending on skills (experience in competing in competitions, winning awards, etc.).
Lee Yong-bin, head of Donghae City’s Physical Education Department, said, “This is a large-scale competition in which all amateurs from 17 cities and provinces will participate to determine the best in sports badminton. I look forward to showing off the skills I have honed to the fullest.”
