Eury Pérez will start the season on the injured list

JUPITER, Florida – Marlins right-hander Eury Pérez will begin the season on the injured list. However, tests showed a small swelling in his right elbow and no structural damage was found. He will begin releasing his arm on Saturday, as recommended by Dr. Keith Meister.

“[Le hice] many questions to the doctor [el martes], but he told me to get on the field at once,” Pérez said on Friday. “It’s inflammation. I have to keep working on staying healthy, go out [al terreno] and do as much as I can.”

Added Miami manager Skip Schumaker: “He’ll probably start a shooting program tomorrow and that’s obviously a good sign. Fingers crossed and hope for the best. Everything is OK until now”.

Pérez felt discomfort in his right elbow on March 14 and informed the team immediately, after abandon his opening the previous day due to problems with a broken nail on the middle finger of his right hand.

In addition to this being his first elbow injury, Pérez, 20, has been dealing with problems with that nail throughout the preseason.

But with this time away, Perez’s nail has grown since the last time it bothered him.
