Friday April 19, 2024, the library of the Tourneur school (Souleuvre en Bocage) was transformed into a recording studio: students interviewed Aline Fergant, the president of the APE (Parents’ Association). This session was the conclusion of a week of work to create a web radio, in partnership with the association The Francas of Calvadosand in particular Emilie Cusson, who intervened in all classes, from PS to CM2.

It is essential to listen to yourself

After putting on the headsets and testing the microphones to have the same sound intensity, Timéo, Lola, Lubin and Sloan each took turns asking their questions:

What position do you hold within the association? Who elected you president? Who are the other people who are part of the association?

A more difficult exercise than it seems: the slightest parasitic noise is prohibited, you must not stammer, and articulate correctly. “It is essential to listen to each other. Having only sound, without image, can be destabilizing,” explains Emilie, who is also director of the Caumont leisure center. The exercise requires extreme concentration. “The children have trained themselves to express themselves well,” explains Sylvie Rouxel, director of the school and teacher in CE1-CE2.

“We hear you blowing”

They prepared the questions, which were sent in advance to Aline Fergant. Equipped with cards, the apprentice journalists take turns to pronounce introductory sentences, transitions, and questions. After each intervention, once the track number has been noted by Emilie, the recording is carefully listened to. If it is not satisfactory, the operation is repeated. “We hear you breathing,” points out the host, for example, who underlines the advantage of not being live. When Sloan asks: “What is an EPA for?” “, it is decided to keep the take despite the incorrectness of the sentence, because “it is natural and spontaneous”. The children notice the slightest error and have fun: » He said APO! » For the president of the APE also, the experience is not so simple. »It’s getting started that is difficult, confides Aline. I had never done that. » A successful challenge, and delighted children:

It’s so good! I want to come back !

“A real talent”

After a training period for teachers at the end of January, the different classes began the project at the start of the winter holidays. The model of the show was developed, with news sections, documentaries, and interviews. The students interviewed residents of the nursing home, as well as Didi Gaucho, from SM Caen. “The nursery classes put Little Red Riding Hood into voice, with riddles and sound effects to illustrate the tale,” says Sylvie Rouxel. » All the children did something, rejoices Emilie.

What is surprising is that those who usually act smart in the playground sometimes find themselves mute in front of the microphone, while conversely, very shy students discover a real talent for expressing themselves during of the recording

An aperitif concert for everyone

It is also an opportunity for the APE, which has 8 active members, to explain its functioning, its role and its actions. And to launch an appeal for goodwill: “We wouldn’t be against a little extra help,” says the president, who announces the preparation of an aperitif-concert open to all.

The event will take place in the town of Tourneur or at the stadium in September. A magic show is also planned for December 8. » The association helps create conviviality and links between families and the school, but also, thanks to various operations, such as lotteries, raffles or Christmas tree sales, to raise money to finance the school trips or USEP licenses,” recalls the president.

The program will be broadcast within the school, thanks to a link on the ENT, and on lesradiosfrancas.fr.
