Djokovic breaks with Ivanisevic, his coach in the last 12 Grand Slams won

Novak Djokovic has announced through his social networks that he has put an end to his collaboration with Goran Ivanisevic, who has been his coach since 2018. With the Croatian by his side, the Serbian tennis player has won 12 of his 24 Grand Slam tournaments. The breakup has taken the tennis world by surprise.

Djokovic does not specify the reasons for the separation. In his message, he highlights the professional and personal value that Ivanisevic, a great player during his time as an active player, has brought to his career. And he makes it clear that it is an amicable divorce after a relationship with ups and downs on the court but full of good and fun times.

“I clearly remember the moment I invited Goran to be part of my team. It was 2018 and Marian and I were looking to innovate and bring some magic to my service. In fact, we not only brought a serve, but also laughter, fun, being number 1 at the end of the year, records and 12 Grand Slams (and some finals). Should I mention some drama too? Goran and I decided to stop working together a few days ago. Our chemistry on the court had its ups and downs, but our friendship was always rock solid. In fact, I’m proud to say that apart from winning tournaments, we also had a parallel battle with Parcheesi for many years. And that tournament never ends for us. Thank you for everything friend, I love you.”

Grand Slams record

During his alliance with Ivanisevic, Djokovic not only won the dozen Grand Slams, but also 2 ATP Finals, 8 Masters 1000 and 3 ATP 500, among others. He does not explain Djokovic if he will look for a new coach. He has currently withdrawn from the Miami tournament and will return to the courts at the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 to fight for the clay court titles.

Djokovic, 36, holds the Grand Slam tournament record in history, ahead of Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer.
