China to Host 2024 Thomas and Uber Cup in Kuala Lumpur: BWF Draw Revealed

CHENGDU, March 23 (Xinhua) — The draw for the World Badminton Federation (BWF) Thomas and Uber Cup has been revealed here on Friday.

Both tournaments feature 16 teams and will take place from April 27 to May 5 in four groups.

Host nation China is placed in group A of the Thomas Cup along with South Korea, Canada, and Australia, and defending champion India will take on Indonesia, Thailand and England in group C.

Group B is set to comprise Japan, Chinese Taipei, Germany and the Czech Republic, while Denmark will face Malaysia, Algeria and Hong Kong, China in group D.

In the women’s Uber Cup, 15-time champion China is scheduled to meet India, Canada and Singapore in group A, and group B includes Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Malaysia and Australia.

Japan and Indonesia will be the favorites to advance from group C, with reigning champion South Korea competing for a knockout stage berth against Denmark, the United States and Mexico in group D.

The biennial international badminton tournaments will be hosted in Chengdu, southwest China’s Sichuan province.  ■
