Defending champions Manchester City easily reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Coach Pep Guardiola’s team won the second leg of the round of 16 at home against Danish champions FC Copenhagen 3-1 (3-1). Man City had already won the first leg in Copenhagen three weeks ago 3-1.

The goals for the English champions were scored by ex-Dortmund players Manuel Akanji (5th minute) and Erling Haaland (45th + 3) as well as Julian Alvarez (9th).
Man City have become the first team to score three goals or more in nine consecutive home games in a major European competition, according to data provider Opta. Mohamed Elyounoussi only scored for Copenhagen to make it 1-2.
Manchester gained further self-confidence for the summit meeting in the Premier League next Sunday at leaders Liverpool FC with German coach Jürgen Klopp. Only one point separates the teams in the table.
