How to make Greater Blood Essence in V Rising
To obtain Greater Blood Essence in V Rising, you need to build a Blood Press in your castle. The Blood Press costs eight boards and 120 stones to build, and is the go-to source for everything blood-related in the game.
There are two recipes for the Greater Blood Essence in the Blood Press:
- Four Immaculate Hearts to create a Greater Blood Essence
- 200 Blood Essence to craft a Greater Blood Essence
The second recipe is initially blocked. To unlock it, you need to kill Tristan the Vampire Hunter, who is a level 44 V Blood boss. He usually hangs out in the forests of Farbance, so make sure you use the boss tracking feature to find him.
Find four Immaculate Hearts
At the start of the game, the only way to obtain the Greater Blood Essence is to craft it from Immaculate Hearts. An Immaculate Heart is a rarer version of a Tainted Heart and can be dropped by almost any creature, including bandits and animals. Now you might think, ahhh, that’s simple, but you’re wrong, because the immaculate hearts don’t appear that often.
Immaculate Hearts drop chance very low
However, the chances of getting an Immaculate Heart from common enemies are pretty slim. I recommend hunting V-Blood bosses or fighting higher level enemies further north as they have a higher chance of dropping an Immaculate Heart. I got one from Errol the Stonebreaker in the Bandit Copper Mine and another from a random soldier near the cotton farm in Dunley Farms, so both are viable options.
Once you’ve collected all the necessary materials, go back to the Blood Press and place it inside to create the Greater Blood Essence. Now you can upgrade your Castle Heart and start crafting more advanced items. Upgrading the Castle Heart is one of the most important activities and you will come across it again and again in the game.
