The territorial Basketball Federation has announced this March 5 that it will celebrate Women’s Day – in collaboration with its national and international counterparts – with a new event that will take place at the Antonio Campoamor this coming Thursday and is called ‘Meeting of Basketball and Women 2024’.
The event, which will take place under the motto ‘Her world, her rules‘(‘Your world, your rules’), seeks only to “encourage female participation in basketball and promote gender equality in sport.”
The day will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a press conference in which “prominent members of the FEB” will participate. One of these “prominent members” will be the head of Organization of the federative entity, Jesús Precioso, who will share with the media his opinion on the integration of women in sports.
Thirty minutes later, at 6:30 p.m., a talk will take place with two highly renowned former professional players: Fernando Romay and María Gascón. Both will present their own experiences and their reflections on their careers.
Of course, the highlight will be the 3×3 matches, in which teams from mixed and female categories will take part. In addition to the meetings, the FBC has prepared games, contests and even a gift giveaway. The participation of associations such as PROI, ACEPAS and ADEN is planned.
The entity headed by Jorge Molinary will put the finishing touch to the initiative on Friday, March 8. That day, the FEB guests will visit several schools in the city to give occasional talks and interact with students.
