Tomás Chapero: The New Addition to Obras Basketball Team

The 2.08 meter inmate, born on June 10, 2001 in Santa Fe, arrives as a replacement for Leandro Cerminato.

“Chapero’s arrival to the team will be a great step for both of us. He gives us one more option for interior play with mobility and size while also creating a platform for Tomás where he can implement what he has been working on on a physical level individually. “We are very happy to add it,” said Juan Gutiérrez, sports director of Obras.

From 2018 to 2021, Tomás Chapero wore the Bahía Basket shirt. Then, he emigrated to Spain to play for Bosco in the EBA League. His average at that stage was 11.9 points, nine rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.5 blocks in 30.9 minutes per game.

In the 2022-23 campaign, the Santa Fe power forward played for two teams: Club Ourense Baloncesto (League LEB Oro) and Damex Udea Algeciras (League LEB Plata).

Chapero also has a stint with the Argentine National Team, since he was part of the senior squad in the FIBA AmeriCup 2022 (a competition in which the Albiceleste team was champion). Likewise, he formed the National Team in the Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament that was held in 2023, in Santiago del Estero.

Chapero started the 2023-24 season at Lobe Huesca La Magia of the LEB Plata League. Now, he will join Obras to be part of Diego Vadell’s team heading to the 2023-24 National League playoffs.
