CCISD Football Schedule Changes and Rivalries Set for 2024 Season

CCISD football games are going to look a bit more like the rest of the state this season.

Though Thursday contests at Buc Stadium and Cabaniss have long had 7 p.m. start times, Friday games will now kick off at 7 as well, joining most of the rest of the state with the earlier kick as the district released its 2024 football schedule this week.

CCISD’s six schools will be split into two separate districts, with Veterans Memorial joining Flour Bluff as the lone Coastal Bend schools that were aligned in Class 5A Division I (1,903-2,274 students) in District 15-5A D-I.

The other five schools (Carroll, King, Miller, Moody, Ray) will join Gregory-Portland in Class 5A Division II for the next two seasons aligned in District 14-5A D-II.

Highlights among non-district contests including Carroll renewing a rivalry with Calallen, along with its regular Battle of the Bridge showdown with Gregory-Portland, which returns to district competition.

The time and place of Miller’s neutral site showdown with Class 6A Division II state champion DeSoto is still to be firmed up, but the Bucs have games against Veterans Memorial, Seguin, Cuero and Sinton in a stacked non-district slate.

Veterans Memorial’s two non-district games are filled with CCISD rivalries, opening the season with Thursday dates against Miller and Carroll.

CCISD will begin sales in June for returning season ticket holders.
