Carolina Marín qualified for the semi-finals of the prestigious All England in Birmingham after beating the Chinese Chen Yufei, number 2 in the world, in two sets (21-17 and 21-15). The player from Huelva performed great level and qualified for the semi-finals showing that it is a candidate signatures to lift this mythical trophy again.
The first sleeve was very even. After an 8-8 score, Marín opened a two-point gap that was maintained (10-8, 12-10). The Chinese player closed it with 12-12, but the Huelva player continued to take the initiative and distanced herself by three points (18-15) to finish finishing the set by 21-17.
Partial 10-1
In the second set Carolina, reinforced by her partial victory, started very strong and marked a spectacular 10-1 run. The Asian player reacted and cut back to 10-5 and then to 10-9. The panorama changed but Marín did not lose his nerve or control of the set (11-9).
After the break he returned to the charge and was 12-9, but Yu Fei responded again under pressure to equalize the duel again (12-12). But Carolina continued step by step towards victory and was 17-14. He ended up certifying the victory with a 21-15.
Rival in the semifinals
In semi-finals Marín will face the Taiwanese Tai Tzu Ying, number 3 in the tournament, who has just defeated the Chinese He Bing Jiao by 16-21, 21-16 and 22-20 in an even duel.
In the other semifinal they will face the world number 1, the Korean An Se Youngwho beat the Chinese Han Yue, seeded number 8, 21-16 and 21-19, with the Japanese Akane Yamaguchinumber 4. The Japanese beat the Indonesian Gregoria Mariska Tunjung by 21-10, 20-22 and 21-18.
