Carballés will face Alcaraz in Miami and Landaluce debuts his professional locker against Munar

MADRID, 22 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Roberto Carballés will be Carlos Alcaraz’s first rival in the Miami tournament (United States), the second Masters 1,000 of the season, while the young Martín Landaluce managed to debut his professional locker at the cost of getting off his compatriot Jaume Munar and Roberto Bautista also entered the second round.

Carballés will play for the first time in his career against the player from Murcia after beating the Australian Aleksandar Vukic this Thursday, who in Indian Wells had put world number one Novak Djokovic in complications, in two sets by 7-6(2), 6 -3. The Tenerife player had a good game with his serve, which he did not lose once in the entire match, with which he only conceded three break points and with which he only lost 15 points.

For his part, Martín Landaluce, 18 years old and junior champion of the United States Open in 2022, finally achieved his first victory as a professional, although to do so he had to leave out his compatriot Jaume Munar, whom he won in three sleeves 6-3, 1-6, 7-5.

The man from Madrid, blessed with an invitation to be in the main draw, twice went down with a break in the third and final set, where he was down 5-3, but the Balearic player could not close the match and was a victim of the comeback of his compatriot who will now face the American Ben Shelton.

Finally, the day was completed with another joy for the ‘Armada’, that of Roberto Bautista from Castellón, who entered the second round after beating the American Emilio Nava in two sets 6-3, 7-6(5). The Spaniard, qualified from the previous round, dominated the first round, while in the second he had to overcome an initial 3-0 deficit before closing his ticket in ‘sudden death’ for a round where he will face the American Sebastian Korda.
