Brayan Bello: happy with extension and motivated with Licey

Bello, who recently signed a six-year, $55 million contract, showed his desire to wear the uniform of the 24-time Dominican League champions.

Brayan Bello has a message for the fans of the Tigres del Licey: do not despair because one day you least expect it you will be able to see him pitching with the team.

“You’re going to see me pitching here and winning a ring too,” said the young pitcher when interviewed during the Dominican MLB series that pitted his team, the Boston Red Sox, against the Tampa Bay Rays last weekend at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal stadium.

Bello, who recently signed a six-year, $55 million contract, showed his desire to wear the uniform of the 24-time Dominican League champions.

“When I see young people like Elly De La Cruz and Ronny Mauricio, it motivates me more to share with them and put on this uniform,” added the right-hander.

He praised the team that won, for the second time in a row, the Lidom title, which he defined as good and which he knew had to win due to the quality of its players.

Boston manager Alex Cora announced a few days ago that Bello will be one of the starting pitchers in the American League East Division team’s rotation.

“It is a great honor for me and it is the mentality that I have imposed on myself, to stay on the team and try to help it,” he added.

He said he hopes good things continue to happen with his family after signing his contract and was grateful for the support he and the Red Sox received during the two-game series against the Rays.
