Boca continues at a firm pace shielding the Inferiores kids who have the most projection. It is a policy that does not stop and that, in 2024, already has eight elected: this Tuesday they joined Valentino Simoni and Iker Zufiaurre, both forwards, who signed their first contract until December 2028.

Simoni is in the 2004 category and received an award for which he fought hardafter a very tough 2023 in which he had to recover from a difficult injury: the rupture of the cruciate ligaments in his left knee. Zufiaurre is in the 2005 category and also had his reward for his great performance in the last Copa Libertadores Under 20.

Both thus joined the extensive list of youth players who signed a contract with the club this year. On the first occasion, those chosen were the Under 20 world champions, Juan Cruz Payal, Nacho Rodríguez and Julián Ceballos. And then, the opportunity came to three of Boca Predio’s best projects: Milton Delgado, Dylan Gorosito and Mateo Mendía. And now they have joined the dream of every kid from Boca Predio.

Valentino Simoni

The forward made his debut in the Reserve in 2021 against Defensa y Justicia and was beginning to earn his place in the team when the severe injury to his left knee stopped his evolution in 2022. Upon his return to the fields in 2023, he was not part from the Reserve team but played the rest of the year in Cuarta. There he played nine games and scored three goals.

So far, Simoni has had a great time at Boca Predio. He won several titles in his formative process: the Rosario Cup in children, the titles of Novena, Sexta (undefeated) and Cuarta in youth. And the most important, the Reserve title in 2021 when, thanks to an agonizing double against Arsenal de Sarandí, a decade-long drought without being champions in this division was ended.

Valentino Simoni scored Boca’s partial tie

Due to his good performance, he was called up by Silvio Rudman in the last two editions of the Copa Libertadores Sub 20 and in the Intercontinental against AZ, but in neither of them did he manage to add minutes.

Iker Zufiaurre

At 18 years old, he was one of those called up by Silvio Rudman in the last Copa Libertadores Sub 20 and did not go unnoticed. In fact, He scored the two goals against Puerto Cabello of Venezuela that gave Boca qualification to the semifinals, in a match that had to be won or won.

Zufiaurre had rapid growth during this time. In fact, in 2023 he played for the Fifth Division. But Mariano Herrón added him to the Reserve preseason and this year he already began to have minutes in that category. The Cordoban’s level was so good that it even aroused the interest of Diego Martínez, who added him to some Primera training sessions.

The strong shielding policy

It is clear that the Colo Barco case caused the Council to fully activate a shielding policy so as not to have any more shocks in that sense. With the wound still present due to the way in which the full-back (who now debuted in the Senior National Team) went to English Brighton, executing his termination clause of 10 green sticks of a short contract (it expired at the end of the year due to the conflict and the delay caused by its renewal), the club did not sit idly by and even took precautions with players like Aaron Anselmino, the 18-year-old center back whose contract was extended and his clause extended to 20 million dollars.
