The images recorded by the video surveillance circuit could be useful to investigators to help identify the criminals who last night attacked the Lecce branch of the Jap Store, located in the industrial area of the city, close to the Lecce-Brindisi highway.
In the frames captured by the cameras, two individuals can be seen arriving shortly before midnight aboard a Fiat 500. The driver remains behind the wheel, while the passenger gets out of the car and, armed with a baseball bat and his face partially distorted, break the shop window and quickly take away items of clothing and various accessories whose value has not yet been quantified.
The loot was piled into a large black bag into which the thief placed what he managed to grab from the store’s shelves, before returning outside, getting into the car and fleeing together with his accomplice.
After a few minutes, following the report received at the 113 switchboard by the owner of the shop, who was in turn notified by the security system triggered after the glass broke, the agents of the Flying Section of the Lecce Police Headquarters arrived on site and recovered the recordings and started the investigation.
