Angie Kerber Looks to Find Rhythm and Shine on Grass Circuit

Kerber returned to the tour at the beginning of the year after her baby break and is still looking for her rhythm. Only in Indian Wells has the Kieler been able to impress with her entry into the round of 16 so far.

Long-time national coach Barbara Rittner, who acts as tournament director in Berlin, is still looking forward to seeing the 36-year-old at the 500cc tournament in Berlin’s Grunewald.

“For me, for our tournament, Angie’s participation is an absolute highlight. I’m sure that she will have a good grass season. I know what she plans to do – and grass is simply her surface,” said Rittner.

In addition to Kerber, who also plays in Bad Homburg before Wimbledon, where she herself acts as a tournament ambassador, another former world number one, the Japanese Naomi Osaka, will be competing in Berlin.
