All England 2024 results could be a breath of fresh air for PBSI

Jakarta

Indonesia won two titles at All England 2024. These results at least made the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) breathe a sigh of relief.

The 2024 All England Open final closed sweetly. Indonesian men’s doubles, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, successfully defended their title after defeating Malaysian champions, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik.

In the match which took place at the Utilita Arena Birmingham, England, Sunday (17/3/2024), Fajar/Rian won two straight games, 21-16, 21-16. The pair, known as Fajri, follows Jonatan Christie’s success in the men’s singles sector.

Jonathan became the 2024 All England champion after defeating fellow Indonesian representative, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting. Jojo won in a two-game match with a score of 21-15, 21-14.

Two titles from the oldest tournament in badminton are a breath of fresh air for PBSI. Because, throughout 2024, Indonesian representatives achieved many bad results in badminton tournaments.

“Two championship titles and one runner-up from the Indonesian badminton team at the 2024 All England badminton event. Good achievements to look forward to the important tournaments ahead,” wrote PBSI’s upload on the Instagram account @badminton.ina.

PBSI can now continue to focus on carrying out its duties in developing athletes. Apart from that, the path for the Chair of the 2024 Olympic Ad Hoc Team and Secretary General of PBSI, M. Fadil Imran, is also a little lighter in looking at the next big tournament.

Indonesia’s success at All England 2024 slightly matches the achievements 30 years ago. At the 1994 All England Open, Indonesia won three titles from men’s singles Hariyanto Arbi, women’s singles Susy Susanti, and men’s doubles Rudy Gunawan/Bambang Supriyanto.

The last time Indonesia won more than one title at the All England was in 2014 by men’s doubles Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan and mixed doubles Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir. The championship titles in other numbers were won by three contestants from three different countries.
