Spanish Women’s Badminton Team Makes Semifinals at European Team Championship After Defeating Scotland

The Spanish women’s badminton team achieved its second victory this Thursday and access to the semifinals of the European Team Championship, which is played in Lodz (Poland), by defeating Scotland 3-2 and despite the fact that the number one, Carolina Marín, lost to Kirsty Gilmour. With this victory the Spanish team secures at least a bronze medal for securing a place in the semifinals on Saturday. Spain was already third in the 2016 and 2018 editions, both in Kazan (Russia).

Carolina Marín, Olympic champion in 2016, three-time world champion and six-time European champion, fell in two sets, 21-16 and 21-11 in 32 minutes against Gilmour, three-time continental runner-up, in all three cases defeated by the Huelva native , who had won ten of the previous twelve between them.
