Sigma’s Poor Performance Leads to Liberec’s Well-Deserved Victory

Sigma has not lost six matches with Liberec, but now Severočechy has deservedly lost 0:2. “The performance from our side is quite difficult to explain to me. From the very beginning, it looked like we were coming out of a mine carrying a backpack with stones and coal on our backs. Our movement corresponded to this. Liberec had a better start to the match, was more aggressive. He collected the second balls much better, so he was much more in the game, and from that came his greater danger,” lamented Václav Jílek.

The Hanás survived the first half at Nisa without conceding a goal only thanks to goalkeeper Matúš Macík, who reflexively blocked Koko’s shot in the 35th minute.

“It was definitely a poor performance from our side. In the second half, we wanted to be more direct, have more runs. And it was broken by a quickly conceded goal. We had the ball under control, there was a cheap loss, a slow return to the defensive and the shooter got a huge space,” Jílka regretted Penner’s wonderful shot from the edge of the box after only three minutes of the second half.

Goalkeeper Matúš Macík from Olomouc was the best player of his team

“We unnecessarily let him get too close. All week we prepared for Liberec to finish from longer distances and we let him shoot. He hit it nicely,” acknowledged goalkeeper Macík, whose performance Jílek described as the only positive of the match.

“I would praise him as probably the only one from the point of view of long-term criticism of our goalkeeper post. Máca fulfilled his role very well and I think he also grabbed two more goals. Probably one of the few positive things, but that’s very little. From an offensive point of view, almost nothing was good there. Sigma’s poor performance, Liberec’s well-deserved victory,” summed up the entry into the spring part of the season by the coach of the fifth team in the table, which Liberec caught up to on points after the match.
