Disappointing against Ireland, the Toulouse fullback was much more enterprising on the Murrayfield pitch, like a sharp restart at the start of the match (10th) and his involvement in the action leading to Gaël Fickou’s try (31st). He fumbled a high ball (18th) but remained flawless against the poles (4/4). Which was not an easy thing since the two transformations were off-center.

• In short: Decisive precision to stay in the game and snatch victory in money time.

Damian Penaud : 5

We saw him make a big tackle at the end of the line (14th), thus providing a refutation to those who question his defensive qualities. For the rest, the Bordelo-Béglais was hardly able to make any differences on his wing, which is rare enough to be underlined.

• In short: A performance without lyrical flight or false note.

Gaël Fickou: 6

He may no longer have his 20-year-old legs, but Gaël Fickou still had enough gas to ultimately score the first French try, his fifteenth in the selection (31st). He had already almost gone to queen a little earlier, following a superb interval shot (15th). Defensively, he held his position.

• In short: A great reaction after their very disappointing match against Ireland.

Jonathan Danty: 5

Inside last Friday, the Rochelais shone in a register that he particularly likes, namely combat. Useful to his team in the execution of defensive tasks, even if we knew him to be more formidable at scratching, the center with 28 selections, on the other hand, did not contribute much offensively and sometimes showed clumsiness (forward, 53rd ).

Replaced by Yoram Moefana (63rd).

• In short: Enough to have the average, but not enough to aim higher.

Louis Bielle-Biarrey: 6.5

Back in the starting XV, the 20-year-old winger didn’t have many interesting balls to get his hands on in the first half and, on one of them, he rushed in and kicked foot (14th). Replaced by Dorian Aldegheri to compensate for Uini Atonio’s yellow card (38th), he patiently bided his time… until building his try on his own, with a kick to follow for himself (70th).

• In short: A flash that pays off big.

Matthieu Jalibert: 3

As is often the case, there is a lot to say about Matthieu Jalibert and, unfortunately, the balance leans towards the negative side. Very crumbly on high balls – one of his bad receptions is also at the origin of the Scottish try (7th) -, penalized several times (39th, 57th), the opening half of the Blues also struggled with his tackles and missed a penalty in the first period (17th). His rating would have been lower if he had not sent Fickou to try a nice jump pass (31st) and, above all, without his saving return on Kyle Rowe (79th).

• In short: Doubt sets in, and it’s very annoying. For him as for the XV of France.

Maxime Funny : 4.5

Less caught in the throat than against the Irish, the Gironde scrum-half often tried to add speed to his ball exits. If we omit a pass intercepted in a good position (15th), it was clean, certainly, but more would have been needed to destabilize a Scottish line that had long been very solid. His kicking game has also not always been very inspired.

Replaced by Nolann Le Garrec (50th), who showed his freshness and dynamism.

• In short: Another very lackluster performance on his part.

Charles Ollivon : 6.5

The Toulonnais was certainly penalized early in the match (4th) but, for the rest, there is not much to reproach him for. He constantly put his team in the lead, was clean on high balls and even allowed himself to counter a hitherto perfectly regulated Scottish touch (47th). On the field, he assumed leadership after the exit of Grégory Alldritt due to injury (50th).

• In short: He too has raised the bar since the first day.

Grégory Alldritt : 7

The captain was exemplary in all areas. In attack, where his charges caused damage, particularly on the action leading to Fickou’s try (31st). In defense, too, where he chained tackles effectively (14/15) and obtained a penalty thanks to a good scratch (50th). He was subsequently injured.

Replaced by Paul Boudehent (50th).

• In short: We really hope that his absence will be very short, as France needs him so much.

François Cros: 6.5

As a good shadow worker, the Stadiste multiplied the tackles and, above all, had a key role in the rucks. It is in fact one of his scratches which is at the origin of the first blue try (31st). Staying on the pitch until the final whistle, he held his ground when the locals laid siege to the French goal.

• In short: Once again very active.

Paul Gabrillagues : 5

For his second start in a row, the Parisian mainly worked in defense and in the battle of the rucks, where there was a lot to be done to stem the Scottish offensives. With the exception of a missed tackle (46th), he was rather impeccable in this area. Very discreet with the ball in hand and not to his advantage in touch.

Replaced by Alexandre Roumat (49th).

Cameron Woki : 3,5

Aligned in place of the suspended Paul Willemse, Cameron Woki was supposed to bring added value thanks to his dynamism and his ability to win balls in touch. The Racingman, however, failed to stand out in the offensive phase, even spoiling a promising situation with a forward move (23rd). Worse: he didn’t exist at all on the sidelines, where he lost ammunition and failed to obtain any.

Replaced by Posolo Tuilagi (49th).

The massive La Rochelle pillar stood out from the start with a good contest (3rd) and still as much power in closed scrums. In his speech, there is this yellow card received just before the break, for a dangerous tackle with the shoulder (38th). Fortunately for him, the bunker did not transform this sanction into a red card.

Replaced by Dorian Aldegheri (58th).

• In short: He came close to prison.

Peato Mauvaka : 3,5

When it doesn’t… Already delicate on his throws into touch against the XV of Clover, the hooker from New Caledonia was again this Saturday, allowing Scotland to steal several balls in this sector, and this from the start of the game (16th, 27th). It didn’t make a noticeable difference otherwise, even though that’s supposed to be one of its strong points.

Replaced by Julien Marchand (49th).

• In short: His place in the starting XV seems more and more threatened.

Cyril Baille: 6.5

His magnificent effort to gain the upper hand over his opposite number, while Scotland benefited from a scrum a few meters from the French goal, was extremely valuable (40th). Imperial in this register, the Toulouse pillar as usual gave of himself in the ruck zones and in the upwind game.
