Indonesian men’s doubles Rahmat Hidayat/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan won the 2024 Sri Lanka International Challenge. This is their first title since they were paired.
Rahmat/Yeremia faced Bryan Jeremy Goonting/M Fazriq Mohamad Razif (Malaysia) in the final round which took place at the District Sport Complex, Galle, Sri Lanka, Saturday (10/2/2024). Rahmat/Yeremia won after overcoming fierce resistance from Goonting/Farziq through the rubber game.
Rahmat/Yeremia lost the first game 18-21. In the second game, they recovered and secured the game 21-15.
This means that the winner will be determined in the second game. Rahmat/Yeremia performed well in this game by winning again 21-15.
Rahmat/Yeremia were the only Indonesian representatives to win the 2024 Sri Lanka International Challenge. None of the other Indonesian representatives even made it to the final match.
India dominates the championship in this event. Her deputy, Isharani Baruah, won the women’s singles event. Compatriots Ashith Surya/Amrutha Pramuthesh won mixed doubles.
Another Indian representative who won was Kartikey Gulshan Kumar who won the men’s singles. The remaining title in the women’s doubles sector was won by the Thai pair Pichamon Phatcharaphisutsin/Nannapas Sukkla.
The title at the Sri Lanka International Challenge 2024 is Rahmat/Yeremia’s first title since they were paired. Before competing in this event, Rahmat Hidayat/Yeremia appeared in the Thailand Masters 2024. Unfortunately their progress was stopped in the round of 16.
Rahmat/Yeremia, after winning the 2024 Sri Lanka International Challenge, are scheduled to immediately follow the Indonesian badminton team to Malaysia to take part in the 2024 Badminton Asia Team Championship.
