French Veterans Alizé Cornet and Richard Gasquet Receive Invitations to Compete in French Open

French veterans Alizé Cornet and Richard Gasquet have received invitations to compete in the French Open.

They are part of groups of eight women and eight men to have received invitations from the French tennis federation to participate in the Grand Slam tournament on clay which will take place on May 26.

Cornet, who is 34, recently announced that she will hang up her racket after Roland Garros. She will be making her 20th consecutive appearance at the tournament where she made her Grand Slam debut in 2005. She has reached the fourth round twice.

She currently ranks 99th in the world. His career best ranking was 11th.

For his part, Gasquet is 37 years old and finds himself at 113th place in the world rankings. He ranked seventh in 2007.

His best run at Roland Garros dates back to 2016, when he reached the quarter-finals.

The American Sachia Vickery and the Australian Ajla Tomljanovic also received invitations, as did the Australian Adam Walton, under an agreement between the French tennis federation and those of the United States and Australia.
