Prenzlau Agenda: Seeking Participation in Holiday Program for Young Residents

Prenzlau needs the commitment of associations, companies, clubs and initiatives to offer its young residents something. The city’s holiday program for children and young people has been running for 13 years and will be offered again this year. We are now looking for additional actors to help provide primary school children with a diverse, interesting and varied program of events as part of the Agenda Diploma and older children with Agenda Plus.

More than 100 events

“We wrote to the partners from previous years by email and invited them to take part again this time,” says the Agenda team. Planning is already underway again for a varied program for the youngsters.

Since 2011, almost every child of primary school age has taken part in at least one of the many events during the summer holidays. The experiences from the last few years speak for themselves. In 2023, there were more than 100 events from the Agenda Diploma series to choose from, i.e. for children from primary schools, as well as 18 Agenda Plus offers for young people from the seventh grade onwards.

Horse riding, fishing and police – everything is on offer

During the Agenda Diploma last year, the children were able to take advantage of activities such as beekeeping, sports, quad rides and a visit to the horse farm, while the young people were able to get a taste of working with the police, learn how to defend themselves from the judokas, or in the city administration found out what it takes to be able to work here later.

Enertrag, Stadtwerke and Wohnbau participated as partners and supported the agenda events. You could also do yoga, work with wood and look over the shoulder of aid organizations. There was also pottery, judo, 3D printing and fishing.

Visit to the mayor possible

Behind the Agenda Diploma is a holiday campaign in which companies and businesses, clubs and initiatives, as well as authorities and institutions invite children of primary school age to take a look around, find out exciting things or have a lot of fun playing and trying things out Experiment and explore.

These can be a wide variety of participation offers. Mayor Hendrik Sommer and the city administration have already confirmed their participation. That means there will definitely be another visit to the mayor’s office and perhaps Hendrik Sommer will let one of the agenda participants sit in the mayor’s chair.

“There will also be an information event for all newcomers,” says the organization team. It will take place on April 8th at 5 p.m. – the exact location will be announced later. The registration deadline for the events is May 17th. The program will be published on the website www.kiju-prenzlau.de in good time, probably on June 22, 2024 before the holidays.
