NEC on Rapport: NEC Player Ratings and Performance Against Heracles Almelo

In NEC on Rapport, every NEC player who has played for at least half an hour receives a grade. This figure is given by a multi-member editorial team, consisting of fans of the Nijmegen club. Against Heracles Almelo, NEC was asleep in the first 20 minutes, but then Heracles was put with its back against the wall. That resulted in a 3-1 victory.

Jasper Cillessen 6.5
While fellow goalkeeper Michael Brouwer received the compliments, Jasper Cillessen actually had little to do. The goalkeeper could do little about Jizz Hornkamp’s goal, but after that he was not really needed anymore, as has often been the case in recent weeks.

Bart van Rooij 7
After recovering from the first twenty minutes, Bart van Rooij started playing very solidly. With a ready-made cross, the 1.68 meter short Proper almost scored a wonderful headed goal.

Philippe Sandler 7
Was a bit asleep at NEC’s 0-1, where he should have headed the ball away before Hornkamp could buy it. But otherwise, Philippe Sandler was solid as ever.

Bram Nuytinck 7
Bram Nuytinck was also fooled by the Heracles striker, but after the opening goal the captain no longer ran into problems. Great match again.

Calvin Verdonk 7
Had former teammate Jordy Bruijn as a direct opponent and apart from the offside goal he was not dangerous. After the departure of Magnus Mattsson, Calvin Verdonk is now the only player who has not had to miss a single match this season.

Dirk Proper 6.5
He plays with more and more bravado, but sometimes this gets Dirk Proper into trouble. Had a surprising header in store for us, but it was no longer accurate.

Tjaronn Chery 8
Sure, we’re only two games in, but so far Tjaronn Chery seems like the ideal replacement for Magnus Mattsson. Described on X as a love child between Mattsson and Oussama Tannane and there is something to that. Courage and commitment combined with scoring ability.

Most Hatters 6
Mees Hoedemakers has actually been the least striking player on the field for weeks. And perhaps that is important for a player in his position, but we can expect more from him.

Sontje Hansen 7
A match with two faces for Sontje Hansen. Was invisible at times, but was very important in the goals. Gave a great assist to Ogawa’s 2-1 and his rush towards the goal could only be stopped with a foul, after which Chery decided the match.

Koki Ogawa 8
The Japanese seems to be on a mission to take over the title of club top scorer from Mattsson as quickly as possible. Koki Ogawa made his ninth in all competitions and therefore still needs four to dethrone Mattsson, but in this form that seems a matter of time.

Kodai Sano 6
A more inconspicuous match from Kodai Sano, who completed the 90 minutes for the fourth consecutive match. Rogier Meijer seems to have complete confidence in his Japanese pupil.

Yvandro Borges Sanches, Lars Olden Larsen, Sylla Sow and Rober González played too short to qualify for a rating.
