Maxi Romero’s Departure from Racing and His Time at Argentinos

Until a few days ago, Maxi Romero was still making news in Racing. First because he was part of Marco Di Cesare’s transfer and then because of the Academy he still must pay part of his transfer. Now far from Avellaneda, the forward plays for Argentinos, where he arrived with Nicolás Oroz. This Saturday, he had a good level in Bicho’s 4-2 victory against Banfield. The game is over, Maxi Romero was consulted about his time at Racing and made it clear that some pressures could have affected him.

What Maxi Romero said about Racing

“My time at Racing is a learning for my life about what a big club is. The pressures are totally different and each one acts with respect to those pressures. In football I didn’t score many goals, I think that hurt me. Nowadays I already I express it in a different way here in Argentinos,” said Maxi Romero, who is a starter in Bicho de La Paternal and no longer belongs to Racing.

As part of the operation agreed with Argentinos Juniors to keep 70% of defender Marco Di Césare’s transfer, Racing included the delivery of 60% of Maxi Romero’s transfer and 90% of Nicolás Oroz. But for the attacker, the Academy still has commitments to fulfill with a foreign squad: PSV Eindhoven.

An important leader of the Academy told this portal that the Avellaneda club, next March, must meet the purchase obligation signed with the Netherlands club for $1,250,000 for half of the token. While for the other 50% the payment was established for 2025.

Maxi Romero’s weak numbers in Racing, prior to his move to Argentinos

Maxi came to Racing at the request of Fernando Gago. He played a total of 62 games, scoring 10 goals and placing seven assists. He was never able to establish himself as a starter and with the arrival of Costas he was included in a negotiable list because the coach requested two forwards. Thus, Adrián Martínez and Maximiliano Salas joined to reinforce the attack that already had the presence of Roger Martínez. While Santiago Solari and Agustín Urzi were added on the sides, both wingers.
