Jorge Martin emphasized that he will do everything he can to beat Francesco Bagnaia in MotoGP 2024. However, the racer nicknamed Martinator still respects Pecco as his rival and defending champion.
Bagnaia became MotoGP world champion in 2023, aka winning back to back titles after becoming champion for the first time in the 2022 season. The Italian racer collected a total of 467 points, ahead of Jorge Martin who was runner up with 428 points.
After fierce competition last season, Martin has plans for MotoGP 2024. The Pramac Ducati racer knows what he has to change to beat his old friend and former roommate in MotoGP this year.
“Pecco is a champion and I have always respected him a lot. Today he is a three-time world champion and I will do everything I can to beat him,” said Jorge Martin, quoted from Speed Week, Monday (26/2/2024).
“You have to stay calm, really focused. You can’t allow yourself to make any mistakes. And last year I did too many,” he added.
The fact that Martin and Bagnaia are now starting MotoGP for the first time on the same motorbike, namely the new 2024 Ducati Desmosedici, is worth considering. Therefore, Martin is optimistic that he can compete and beat his rival.
“If we look at last season, he was much faster than me in the first half. Things turned around in the second half. In 2024 we will start from the same level from the start,” said Jorge Martin.
For information, the 2024 MotoGP event itself will start in about two weeks. Jorge Martin et al will start the hunt for the 2024 MotoGP world title in the first series which will be held at the Lusail Circuit, Qatar, on March 8-10 2024.
