Jonathan Xaygnaboun Shines at the Touraine Racketlon Open

This weekend the 3rd edition of the Touraine Racketlon Open took place, on the courts of TC Jocondien. This competition brings together four racquet sports: table tennis, badminton, squash and tennis. The players string together four rounds of 21 points, one round in each sport. The winner is the one with the most points.

This edition brought together some of the best French players: Lucas Steyer 4th, Stéphane Quiquempois 9th, Aurélien Guyonneau 11th and Kévin Crepineau 29th. Local Jonathan Xaygnaboun, 54th French player, created a surprise by beating Quiquempois in the quarters, and Guyonneau in the semi-final.

But in the final he was beaten by Lucas Steyer, 18, junior world vice-champion and 34th in the international rankings. Jonathan Xaygnaboun was unable to make up for his handicap in badminton and squash, despite his higher ranking in tennis (0 against 15/4 for Lucas Steyer).

Among the ladies, Aurélie Bujeau (24th) won, ahead of Brunelle Fontenelle (139th) and Maurine Duport (41st). And in doubles, Stéphane Quiquempois and Thomas Cavé were titled, ahead of Jonathan Xaygnaboun and Simon Puthoste, and Julien Castel and Pauline Cavé.
