“If we are a competitive team there are many chances of winning”

MacKinnon’s home point streak continues to 29 games as the Avalanche easily defeat the Stars.

“It’s an excellent challenge every time we have the opportunity to play against them,” stated Oettinger. “If we want to achieve our goals, we’ll likely have to face them.”

The other team scored first, but we were able to react quickly. Overall, our performance was strong tonight, according to Cogliano. Our defense was solid, specifically when it came to preventing the other team from getting opportunities near the center of the rink. We successfully defended against two power plays, and were able to score during our own power play. It seemed like all aspects of our game were on point tonight.

At 5:58, Rantanen scored to give the Avalanche a 2-1 lead. He collected the rebound from MacKinnon’s first shot and scored with one hand while evading Oettinger.

“In light of the consecutive nature of the situation, I believe our team showed great determination and effort. There were a few instances in the game where their speed was too much for us, and they took advantage of those opportunities,” stated Dallas coach Pete DeBoer. “Despite this, our team never gave up and continued to work hard. It’s important to have a short memory in this league and focus on the next game, which happens to be a crucial one.”

Logan Stankoven tallied a goal and Jake Oettinger blocked 22 shots for the Stars (35-17-9). They have a record of 1-3-1 in their last five games and most recently fell to the New York Islanders in a 3-2 overtime defeat on Monday.

Cogliano commented that Wagner effectively stopped the puck and it bounced out, allowing him to make a decent shot. This occurrence is not uncommon.

At 2:08, Joel Kiviranta one-timed a cross-ice pass from Cogliano to tie the score 1-1.

Stankoven scored the first goal for the Stars at 1:00 of the opening period, redirecting a pass from Wyatt Johnston that deflected off Georgiev’s stick.

At 7:09 of the second period, Cogliano increased the lead to 3-1 by scoring a snap shot from the left face-off circle while on a 2-on-1 play with Kiviranta. The puck battle in the neutral zone, won by Chris Wagner, allowed Cogliano to make a rush towards the goal.

According to Colorado defenseman Devon Toews, having the lead is always beneficial. The difficulty level of playing with the lead may vary depending on the game, but ultimately, the team that scores the most goals will win. Therefore, having a lead is always more favorable than not having one.
