Frederic Vasseur, Ferrari team boss, states that Ferrari’s SF-24 is ‘99% new’ compared to 2023. Vasseur also briefly discusses the situation surrounding Christian Horner, who is currently facing accusations of inappropriate behavior.

Last Monday the news emerged that Red Bull would conduct an independent investigation into the allegations. Since then there have been mainly rumors, without an official update. To the media present, including F1inGenerale, Vasseur briefly discusses the situation surrounding Horner at Red Bull Racing. “I will never comment on this story. I will never say anything about this kind of situation. We are recruiting [personeel]. Previously we were recruiting, we will continue to do so afterwards, but this has nothing to do with the current situation at Red Bull.” Vasseur therefore denies that the team wants to take advantage of the situation surrounding Red Bull and is now inquiring after the availability from technical director Pierre Waché, among others, as rumors suggest.

Car Ferrari 99% new

Vasseur then goes further into the Ferrari car. According to the Frenchman, a lot has changed on the car. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz already stated that the car should be easier and better to drive. Vasseur says Ferrari’s car is 99% new. “The car is 99% new. We have worked hard and made good progress. The first reactions from the drivers were very positive, both in the simulator and during today’s shakedown [dinsdag]. We have to concentrate on knowing where we have to work and developing the car.”

No early conclusions

According to Vasseur, it cannot yet be said that Ferrari has succeeded in creating a working concept. “It’s too early to have a clear picture of the performance. We did five rounds and it went well, but in Bahrain we will have a better picture. We reaped the benefits of last year’s season finale, by to work on the weaknesses, design a car that is easier to drive and make good progress.”
