Federico Coria advances to quarterfinals of ATP 250 tennis Córdoba Open after defeating Albert Ramos Viñolas

The Argentine Federico Coria, finalist in the previous edition, beat the Spanish Albert Ramos Viñolas this Wednesday by a resounding 6-1 and 6-3 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 tennis Córdoba Open.

Coria, ranked 93rd in the ranking and who last year lost the final with Sebastián Báez from Buenos Aires, put in a more than convincing performance and swept away the tough Ramos Viñolas (84th), winner of the Córdoba Open in the 2022 edition and who also he had played the decisive match in 2021.

The Rosario player will face in the quarterfinals the winner of the match between Tomás Martín Etcheverry from La Plata (29th) and Spaniard Bernabé Zapata Miralles (79th), who faced each other in the last round.

The one who couldn’t was the favorite and first seed of the contest, Buenos Aires native Francisco Cerúndolo (22nd). Who had just been part of the Argentine Davis Cup team fell at night against the Spanish Jaume Munar (74th) by 7-5 and 6-4 so he had an express passage through Córdoba, with his debut and farewell in the round of 16.

Munar will be facing Facundo Bagnis from Santa Fe (207th), who earlier defeated Spaniard Roberto Carballés Baena (65th) 7-6 (5) and 6-4.

This Thursday will be the debut turn for the second seed and defending champion, Seba Báez (26th), hero of the Argentine classification in Davis. He will be facing the Bolivian Hugo Dellién (112th) no earlier than 6:30 p.m. to seek his place in the quarterfinals.
