Club Brugge Prepares for Crucial Derby Match Despite Top Scorer’s Departure

Another key week for Club Brugge. The derby against city rivals Cercle is scheduled for Sunday. “Such a local derby is a more special match than others,” Ronny Deila began with an obvious statement. “And if we want to be at the top, these are the matches you have to win.”

For this, the Norwegian coach is also counting on Igor Thiago, the top scorer of blue-black who secured a dream transfer to Brentford earlier this week.

“Whether there has been much discussion about it? No. When such offers come, it is usually fairly straight forward. We can just be proud of what everyone has done for Igor. And he for us. I am also happy that Igor has finished the season still matters to us.”

Deila expects that the unsuccessful transition will have a positive effect on the performance of his striker. “It will give Igor a mental boost. He wants to leave Club on a good note and is grateful to everyone after what they have done for him.”
