Brest slowed down at Clermont in Ligue 1, Nantes and Lorient breathe

Toulouse-Nantes: 1-2

Effective Nantes (two shots on target for two goals) beat Toulouse, dominant but not dangerous enough (2-1), this Sunday at the Stadium. Jocelyn Gourvennec’s men had not won in Ligue 1 since December 2 against Nice (1-0).

After two matches without scoring, the Canaries very quickly opened the score (1-0, 2nd) in this meeting thanks to a superb free kick taken by Mostafa Mohamed. The Egyptian striker delighted in Toulouse with his goal but also an uncrossed header (20th) which landed on Guillaume Restes’ post. Mohamed also delivered a decisive pass, in the second half, for Tino Kadewere, after a very nice one-two combination (2-0, 51st). Dallinga’s goal, at the last second, only saved the honor (2-1, 90th+6).

These three points allow Nantes, twelfth, to move ahead of Toulouse, thirteenth, in the standings.

Clermont-Brest : 1-1

Brest, yet ultra-favorite in this meeting, was held by Clermont (1-1), who resisted the Breton attacks until the last seconds. In the first act, the Clermontois created the best opportunities, notably through their striker Shamar Nicholson. Returning from the locker room, Brest picked up the pace and ended up opening the score thanks to a superb curl from Pierre Lees-Melou, a little over twenty meters from the opposing cages (1-0, 50th).

Clermont managed to get back into the match thanks to winning coaching from Pascal Gastien. Three minutes after entering the game, Grejohn Kyei placed an unstoppable header for Marco Bizot (1-1, 69th).

While Clermont achieved a good operation with this draw, Stade Brestois leaves the possibility for Monaco to move ahead in the standings in the event of a victory against Nice this Sunday evening (8:45 p.m.).

Lorient-Reims: 2-0

The Lorientais offered themselves a second victory in a row for the first time this season against Reims (2-0). Régis Le Bris’ men made the difference in the second half with goals from their winter recruit Mohamed Bamba (1-0, 69th), who scored for the third time in as many matches, and Tiémoué Bakayoko (2-0, 86th), came into play around ten minutes earlier. Reims, despite its 23 shots, did not find the net because of its clumsiness in the last gesture.

This victory allows Lorient to become play-offs while Reims falls one place and goes ninth in Ligue 1.
