2024 Paris Olympics: Events to Begin Before Opening Ceremony

The 2024 Paris Olympics will be no exception to the rule. As with every Olympiad, the Olympic Games in France will begin even before the opening ceremony, scheduled for Friday July 26 at 8:24 p.m.

Two days earlier, on Wednesday July 24, rugby sevens at the Stade de France (Saint-Denis) and football in Paris, Nantes, Bordeaux, Lyon, Saint-Étienne, Marseille and Nice will launch more than two weeks of competition. The next day, two other events will precede the ceremony on the Seine: handball at the Arena Paris Sud and archery at Les Invalides.

A specific calendar in order to respect the schedule. Two weeks are not enough to compete in all of these competitions, with the athletes needing rest. Reason why the organizers are anticipating their entry into the running. Some archers will thus be eliminated from the Olympics… even before the opening ceremony.
