Young Green Bay Packers Almost Upset No. 1 San Francisco 49ers in NFL Playoffs

This would have been the sensation of the NFL playoffs this season. The Green Bay Packers – a very young team, which was starting from scratch after the transfer of Aaron Rodgers, its legendary quarterback to New York – did not come far from eliminating the San Francisco 49ers, the No. 1 in the Conference national. But the latter finally won (24-21), Saturday at the end of the match, and are now only one game away from the Super Bowl (February 11 in Las Vegas).

San Francisco won thanks to a touchdown from runner Christian McCaffrey scored with a little over a minute remaining. Linebacker Dre Greenlaw then intercepted Green Bay QB Jordan Love. The Packers had also missed a field goal earlier. San Francisco played almost the entire match, without its receiver Deebo Samuel, who was quickly injured in a shoulder.

Next week, in the Conference final, the 49ers will face the Detroit Lions or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. These two teams will play on Sunday at 9:00 p.m. (French time).

Jackson and the decisive Baltimore defense

The Baltimore Ravens qualified with more ease against the Houston Texans (34-10). At the break, however, the score was only 10-10. But Baltimore then made the difference, thanks to its defense, which, in total, only let slip three points. Houston’s only touchdown was scored on a punt return. And the Texans were limited to 38 yards on the ground.

Lamar Jackson, the Baltimore quarterback, scored four touchdowns (two on passes and two others running). The Ravens will play in a Conference final for the first time since 2013. Their opponent will be known next night. It will be the Buffalo Bills or the Kansas City Chiefs, who will face each other from half past midnight (French time).
