A Commemorative Retrospective on Stefano Furlan and his Curva.

Trieste, 23 January 2024 – On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the death of Stefano Furlan, the Triestina fan violently hit on the head by a policeman after the Coppa Italia match between Triestina and Udinese on 8 February 1984, the Triestina curve with great emotion he announces the staging of the exhibition “With Your Name On It“, an extraordinary retrospective dedicated to this fan who tragically passed away.

“With your name on it” will be inaugurated next February 7th at 5pm at the exhibition spaces of Sbisà Room of Warehouse 26located in the evocative context of Porto Vecchio in Trieste, and will be open to the public free of charge from 8 February to 1 April 2024.

On the occasion of the inauguration a commemorative moment will be held to remember Stefano Furlan and to retrace his Curve which still perpetuates his name and memory today.

The exhibition was conceived and conceived as a tangible and affectionate tribute to Stefano Furlan, a Triestina fan who left an eternal mark in the heart of the Curva. Through the memory of his life also through unpublished images, “With your name on me” also aims to explore and tell the historical context of the Ultras of those years, retracing a period in which the passion for Triestina united numerous young people in the emerging movement in Italy.

Stefano Furlan was a passionate young man who joined the Ultras movement due to his deep love for the colors of Triestina and a strong sense of belonging. The exhibition will offer a unique opportunity to reveal the true essence of Stefano, going beyond the stereotypical media representations of the time.

The calendar of collateral events includes:

8 February, 5pm – Conference on Stefano Furlan: in the Luttazzi Room of Magazzino 26, a conference will be held which will see the participation of fans and enthusiasts. Topics related to the life of Stefano Furlan and his connection with the Curva della Triestina will be addressed.

16 February, 6.30 pm – Meeting with the Ultras: a representation of those who were present on 8 February 1984 will accompany a guided tour of the exhibition, offering a unique opportunity to delve deeper into the history of Stefano Furlan and the Curva della Triestina in the 1980s.

February 22nd, 6pm – Guests ‘Stefano’s heroes’: in the Luttazzi Room of Magazzino 26 the halberd players of the historic 82/83 promotion will be present together with a representation of the current Triestina squad. A moment of sharing and remembrance.

February 24, 5pm – Presentation of the book ‘The rebels in the stadiums’: Pierluigi Spagnolo will present his book with a focus on football themes, in particular the Ultras.

1 March, 6.30 pm – Presentation of the book ‘A night long forty years’: the Curva Furlan will present a book in memory of Stefano Furlan, an emotional journey of four decades of memories and emotions through photos, commemorative ceremonies and banners in the stadiums of Italy.

9 March, 8.30 pm – Preview screening of the documentary film ‘Guardia di una fede’: the Sala Luttazzi will host the screening of the documentary film which tells the story of Atalanta’s Curva Nord.

March 15th, 7pm – Screening of the film ‘A day with your name on it’: screening of the film which tells the story of Stefano’s 40th Anniversary, filmed on the occasion of the commemoration of 8 February this year.

March 21st, 8.30pm – Charity auction: the Sala Sbisà will host the auctioning of shirts belonging to Triestina and other Serie A, B and C teams. The entire proceeds, in agreement with Stefano’s family, will be donated to the Oncohematology department and Transplants at the Burlo Garofalo Children’s Hospital.

March 22, 8.30 pm – Presentation of the book ‘Ultras, the other protagonists of football’: in the Luttazzi Room of Magazzino 26 Sebastien Louis will present his book with a video support of historical images of the Italian curves.
