“We go with the maximum ambition to the challenge of the Olympic Games”

MADRID, 1 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The national women’s soccer coach, Montse Tomé, valued 2023, which ended as “a great year” and pointed to the necessary work at the base and to improve the infrastructure of the world champion so that in 2024 she can continue aspiring to everything, with the challenge to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

“With the World Cup title, it is the greatest achievement at the national team level and also for me as a coach. If we value this, it has been a great year. Behind this success there is a lot of effort, many moments. Good moments, not so good moments that make you grow and I value this year as one of the best of my life,” he said this New Year’s Monday in an interview with the media of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).

Tomé pointed out the key for 2024 to continue to be fruitful. “We have to continue betting on the base, we have to continue expanding the resources in the young generations, so that they can develop with the best coaches, with the best resources to be better soccer players, and that the people who accompany these players are the best prepared and trained,” he stated.

Spain will face the Netherlands on February 23 in search of the final of the Nations League and qualify for the Olympic Games for the first time. “We are going with a group of players who have been capable of being world champions. Playing with a star on our chest means many things, a star that they deserve, that we deserve. Also, I always say that I am surrounded by great professionals who are necessary to accompany these great soccer players, organize the talent and lead this group,” he said.

“We are going to go for everything. Playing in the Olympic Games is something unique, something that I would have loved, life gives me the opportunity to do it as a coach. It is an illusion, a nice challenge, something that we are going to go with the highest ambition,” he concluded.
