New Leaders Bring Renewal to Saint-Joseph Seminary’s Basketball Program for 2024-2025 School Year

The 2024-2025 school year will take place under the sign of renewal for the Vert et Or basketball program of Saint-Joseph Seminary as two new people will make their entry at the head of the organization chart.

With the growing popularity of basketball at school, Saint-Joseph Seminary wanted to give new impetus to its Vert et Or program and establish a solid operational structure. This is how Sidney Tremblay-Lacombe and Sébastien Boucher will join the Vert et Or family next August, as managers of the basketball program.

Sidney Tremblay-Lacombe recently completed his sporting career with the Rouge et Or of Laval University, last March. Originally from Laval, he led his team to victory at the U Sports Network Canadian Championship. He was also named MVP of the Quebec university circuit in 2023. For someone who is completing his bachelor’s degree in sports intervention this spring, this opportunity presented itself at the right time when he found himself at a crossroads. “With the end of my athletic career, I wondered where I was going to find my new team. I’m really happy to have found it so quickly and in an environment like Saint-Joseph Seminary. I am excited to contribute to the development and progression of the program,” he explains.

As for Sébastien Boucher, he holds a bachelor’s degree in sports intervention and also has 8 years of experience as a coach. In recent seasons, he has notably acted as a coach at the college level with the Cégep de Limoilou as well as at the secondary level within the Aquilon program at the Jean-de-Brébeuf high school in Quebec. “I am delighted to be able to share my vision and my passion with this program already steeped in history and I am ready to support the organization’s young athletes in their ascent to new heights,” says Mr. Boucher.

As for the student sports coordinator at SSJ, Charles Hébert, the arrival of Sidney Tremblay-Lacombe and Sébastien Boucher is welcomed with great enthusiasm. “With the addition of these two quality speakers, we will be able to further support our 250 student-athletes as well as our forty coaches. Work and rigor will certainly be values that you will find within our basketball program,” he says. (JC)
