Tom Pidcock reports ill for cross-country races in Koksijde and Gullegem

No Tom Pidcock on Thursday in the X2O Bathrooms Trophy competition in Koksijde. The INEOS Grenadiers crosser has called out sick, the organization informed CyclingFlits. Pidcock has also been removed from the start list for the Cyclocross Gullegem, scheduled for Saturday.

The cyclo-cross of January 1 in Baal was perhaps already an omen. Pidcock fell behind Sven Nys early in the GP and never had a chance of a good result. Ultimately he finished twelfth, more than five minutes behind winner Mathieu van der Poel. Two days earlier he had fallen early in Hulst and after catching up he finished 25th.

In the Duinencross of Koksijde, Pidcock was supposed to compete against Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert, but he will now miss that confrontation. The Brit also had the Cyclocross Gullegem (Saturday) on his programme, but he has also canceled with that organization. This was confirmed on Wednesday evening CyclingFlits.

The Zonhoven World Cup (Sunday) next weekend is still on his programme. After that he would take a week’s rest anyway.
