From today, until Saturday, orange ball lovers will be served in national competition at the Temple-sur-Lot Base, in Fongrave and Lafitte-sur-Lot.
The 2024 edition of the Star Tournament is for a consecutive year organized in Lot-et-Garonne by CD 47. Its primary aim is to detect young people aged 12 and 13 in order to potentially integrate one of the four hopeful centers from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Centre-Val-de-Loire regions.
24 teams of 10 players in total are expected, with twelve men’s teams and twelve women’s teams. They qualified following the Inter-Committee Tournament (TIC) organized in four zones: New Aquitaine southern sector, northern sector, eastern sector and Center-Val-de-Loire.
Following this tournament, two types of teams were formed: delegation team representing a department and potential team bringing together several young people from different committees/departments. They will initially face each other in a group stage. Then the final phases which will reward the winning teams of the final.
Four gymnasiums mobilized for the competition
For this 2024 edition, four gymnasiums will be mobilized, including two located in Temple-sur-Lot (rooms 2001, 2024), one in Lafitte-sur-Lot (Couderc sports complex) and finally in Fongrave (multipurpose room). The first meetings begin this Thursday at 2 p.m. The Lot-et-Garonnaises will face the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Est selection, then the next morning the Loiret team. The finals will take place on Saturday afternoon at Temple-sur-Lot.
