American golfer Tiger Woods is parting ways with sportswear brand Nike.
The collaboration between the two parties had lasted for 27 years. The first contract Woods signed with Nike was worth $40 million and dates back to 1996 when the golfer was only 20 years old.
The following year Woods won the Augusta Masters, one of the four most important tournaments in professional golf.
The American’s popularity gave a strong boost to the sportswear brand in the world of golf.
Over the years the contract was renegotiated several times until Tiger Woods earned over 500 million.
Now the decision to terminate the partnership and not to renew it further. According to some media, it appears to have been made by mutual agreement.
