Three new snow itineraries in Courmayeur for families

There are three snow itineraries in Courmayeur, in the villages surrounding the town, particularly suitable for families who are discovering the slow mountain. With a view of Mont Blanc you rediscover the pleasure of slowing down and immersing yourself in a world suspended in timemade up of breathtaking landscapes, cabins, centuries-old woods and glaciers that unfold as far as the eye can see.
The snowshoeingcross-country skiing and walking are ideal for families and children, and to take advantage of this “break” imposed on alpine skiing to live according to one’s natural aptitude.

Three snow itineraries in Courmayeur for families

The three new snow itineraries in Courmayeur, specially groomed and well signposted, unravel near the villages of the locality. The longest is the Tor di Vercuino, 4 km and 250 meters of altitude difference, which starts from the Bollino park, in the center of Courmayeur. We then continue with the ring in the Villair meadows, at the foot of Mont de La Saxe. It is an opportunity to enter the dense forest of the Bois du Ban up to the Biollay area, and then descend to Pussey, admiring historic Art Nouveau style residences. You return via the Grand Ru road, returning to the lower Villair.

Less demanding is the Tor d’Entrèves, 1.5 km and 100 meters of elevation gain. It was born at the meeting point between Val Veny and Val Ferret, the two side valleys of Courmayeur, a short distance from the departure of the Skyway Monte Bianco cabins. You walk among snow-covered meadows, in front of crowns of peaks, and going up as soon as you can enter the village of Entrèves, a small Alpine jewel, to admire narrow streets, frozen fountains and traditional houses.

The last route is the simplest, and is also suitable for the little ones: the Tor de Dolonne, 500 metres, 50 of altitude difference. Practically flat, it is a beautiful walk in the snow of the meadows of Dolonne, the hamlet that is located right in front of the historic center of Courmayeur, and connects the departure of the cable car to the Fun Park. Along the road you come across the typical stone and wood houses, some of which show off the colorful shutters characteristic of Courmayeur.

Walking in the snow in Val Ferret

These itineraries are in addition to the routes in Val Ferret, to be tried during the day or at night, with headlights, in search of traces of wild animals. You can also reach the Alpeggio Arpetta and the Baite de La Suche, which “jump out” over the entire Mont Blanc chain.
Val Ferret, then, is a cross-country skiing paradise. From Planpincieux (1580 metres) the slopes start which wind along the entire valley, up to the town of Lavachey and, for the more resistant, up to Arp Nouvaz. You slide – or walk – in front of the Grandes Jorasses and Mont Blanc, a succession of peaks that have made the history of mountaineering.
The slopes, always traced and groomed, include many deviations, which allow you to vary the basic itineraries, covering rings of different lengths, for a total of approximately 19 km. In this way even the little ones can enjoy a sunny day in the snow together to their parents.
