The Final Countdown: Leyma Coruña’s Historic Battle for the Title

FINAL: The last hour of… Leyma Coruña

It will be the first final in national competition for Leyma Coruña in its entire history and that has given the meeting a differential character on a social level. A media power from which Diego Epifanio has tried to isolate his team, who has tried to give the team’s work the most absolute normality in order to arrive at the WiZink Center mentally prepared for a battle in which they will not be alone.

Leyma Coruña won last Saturday in a demanding match in Torrelavega and, since that precise moment, each day that has passed has been a demanding day of work in the pre-match plan of Diego Epifanio and his coaching staff.

A job for which the coach from Burgos and his coaching staff have not wanted to change the dynamics of their squad’s usual sessions, but in which they have had to focus on the mental and psychological aspect in order to isolate their players from the great atmosphere prevailing in the city. Because since Monday, there have been requests from the media to be able to report first-hand about how the locker room was going to live a week in the history of the entity.

For this reason, training sessions at Riazor have been alternating with important moments for the growth of the A Coruña club, such as the presentation of the team’s official bus, which unexpectedly burst in at the end of training on Wednesday. A launch with the approval of a surprised squad and which continued on Thursday evening with a meeting with fans promoted by the Peña Tsunami Naranja and in which Diego Epifanio collected a conspiracy message from his followers to to be able to transfer it to the rest of the staff.

Thus, the squad was tearing off pages of the calendar accompanied by that good basketball atmosphere generated in the city and that will take more than 500 fans to travel, on an organized trip to the capital of Spain.

The final begins on the A6 on Saturday morning:

With just over 600 kilometers ahead, the Leyma Coruña squad got on their new bus on Saturday morning with all their available troops. A trip that began early in the morning with the farewell of a large group of fans and that has led the expedition to head towards the A6 towards Madrid.

There, the team has set up its concentration headquarters at the AC Hotel Avenida de América where they arrived early in the afternoon to rest in their rooms before heading to their last training session prior to the Final. A training session that was held at the Caja Mágica in Madrid at 6:00 p.m. – for about 90 minutes – and with which the team was able to loosen its legs and sharpen its focus before returning to its hotel for dinner and facing the last night pre game.

It will be on Sunday morning when the team heads to the WiZink Center where they will arrive around 11:00 a.m. to go to their locker room before taking to the court. A place where they will compete for the first official title in their history with more than 500 fans accompanying them from the stands and feeling the support of the A Coruña fans who will concentrate at the Estrella Galicia Cuatro Caminos Brewery to be able to follow the match through the signal from LaLiga+.

A clash that will end around 2:30 p.m. and that will mark the immediate future of a team that, initially, has scheduled its return by bus after the match while waiting to know the result of the clash.
