Rapid striker Strunz suffers ankle injury – sport.ORF.at

SK Rapid will have to be without offensive player Oliver Strunz for several months. The 23-year-old fractured his right ankle and tore his syndesmotic ligament during training on Thursday without any external influence, as the Viennese announced on Friday.

Strunz underwent immediate surgery and will be out for a long time. “The injury is obviously really bad for me mentally,” explained the striker. He had originally feared something even worse, “from now on I have to do everything I can to be able to get back to it as quickly as possible,” said Strunz.

WSG player Gugganig will be out longer

The WSG Tirol will have to do without David Gugganig for several weeks. As the Bundesliga club reported on Friday, the central defender sustained an outer ligament injury in his right ankle in the friendly against German third division club 1860 Munich. The 26-year-old will be condemned to watch for at least three weeks.
