NBA Postpones Mavericks vs. Warriors Game Following Assistant Coach’s Sudden Death

SAN FRANCISCO – The Dallas Mavericks’ game against the Golden State Warriors scheduled for Friday night has been postponed following the sudden death of assistant coach Dejan Milojević, the NBA announced Thursday.

The date for the resumption of this meeting will be announced later.

Milojević, who was a mentor to two-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic and himself a former All-Star from Serbia, died of a heart attack Wednesday in Utah. Milojević was part of the coaching staff that led the Warriors to the 2022 NBA championship. He was 46 years old.

Milojević died in Salt Lake City, where he was hospitalized Tuesday evening after suffering serious illness during a team dinner.

The Warriors’ game against the Utah Jazz scheduled for Wednesday has also been postponed.
