The predictions came true and Lobas Global Atac Oviedo is left out of the final phase of the Copa de la Reina. Manolo Díaz’s pupils fell clearly in the second cup tie against Atticgo Elche. The Alicante team, as it had already done in the first round match of the Iberdrola Guerreras League, demonstrated at the Florida Arena that it is a candidate for everything this season. Two teams of the same category but of a very different level faced each other. The Oviedo team will now have to focus on adding as much as possible in their fight for permanence.

The women from Elche soon warned of their intentions, with a 0-3 partial start. Elena Martínez, former Elche player, supported the blues, who managed to steal balls in defense but were unable to hit shots. In this way, Atticgo Elche put a five-goal lead (2-7) and Manolo Díaz had to request his first time-out, already reaching the midpoint of the first half.

From then on, the Oviedo team managed to put together their best minutes of the match and thus reduce the deficit to three goals (6-9). However, in the final stretch of the first half, the visitors’ 6-0 defense became an insurmountable wall for the blues, who received a partial score of 0-5 that already made the match very difficult at half-time, as which was reached with 6-14 on the scoreboard after a goal by Tessa van Zijl at the buzzer. Something that angered the crazy fans, who understood that the ball had entered the goal when time was up.

In the second half, any hopes that the blues might have had were drowned out by the visiting goalkeeper Marisol Carratú. The Argentine international made one stop after another. Those difficulties that the local team had in scoring were taken advantage of by Elche to increase the lead on the scoreboard, reaching the end of the match with a very convincing 17-33.
