Joel Embiid’s Historic Scoring Streak Continues with 20th Consecutive 30+ Point Game

Joel Embiid continues his absurd scoring streak. Last night the center had 33 points and 10 rebounds to seal the victory of the Philadelphia Sixers against the Charlotte Hornets (97-89). This marks the twentieth consecutive night that the center scores 30 points or more, joining an elite list that is only joined by Wilt Chamberlain and James Harden.

Only they have reached 30 points twenty times in a row in the NBA. In Chamberlain’s case, he did it up to four times during his career. Harden went to 32 consecutive games in 2018-19 to leave the second best mark ever. The legendary center ended the streak in 65 games in 1962, a figure that seems unbeatable.

One more night at the office

Embiid kept his streak alive despite a difficult night. The Hornets managed to make things difficult for Philly, who fell below 100 points for the fourth time all season. The first one they seal with victory. Charlotte launched double assists on the Cameroonian center throughout the match, but he managed to score 11 of his 23 field goals and go to the line 12 times, scoring on 11 occasions. With this game, the interior returned to the path of double-double (now totaling 27) after two games falling below ten rebounds in the last two.

The feat helped the Sixers achieve their fifth consecutive victory and place themselves only half a game behind the second position in the East occupied by the Milwaukee Bucks. Embiid continues to be the MVP favorite with averages of 35 points, 11.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists.
