Many, this morning, for the “Day of Peace” 2024 edition in Piazza Frasconi organized by the Santissima Trinità Parish, which resumed the tradition begun in the seventies after the invitation of the then Pope Paul VI to celebrate and promote, in every part of the world, Peace together.
The event was resumed last year with a small torchlight procession on the evening of December 31st. This year we went back to basics. All the associations that deal with social and volunteering in Genzano and some nearby municipalities were invited and many participated.
In fact, many local entities responded to the appeal, around thirty Associations were present today in Piazza Frasconi, together with the children and young people from the De Sanctis comprehensive institute who each participated privately, a sign of a great desire for Peace in the hearts of these very young people who all danced together in the presence of their parents with Christmas carols and using their bodies as a musical instrument directed by the music teacher Mario Fermante in a very heartfelt and fun performance of “Body Percussion”.
The mayor of Genzano Carlo Zoccolotti, the principal of the De Sanctis School Antonio Draisci, the volunteers of Caritas, the Pro Loco, the councilors Francesca Piccarreta, Antonella Paternoster, and the president of the city council Patrizia Mancini also attended the large and well-attended initiative. The local police, the carabinieri and the Genzano state police were also present.
The Genzano Boy Scouts carried the lit lamp in procession as a sign of Peace and mutual respect, accompanied by the parish priest Monsignor Pietro Massari.
